The Medication Assistance program provides resources to help residents of the Coastal Bend who do not have health insurance and limited or no prescription coverage obtain their prescription medication at a low or no cost.

Access to prescription medication has become an important concern as drug costs continue to increase and represent a significant out of pocket expense for many uninsured residents. Our staff assists clients with filling out drug company applications that offer a limited supply of free or low-cost medications through their assistance programs. We utilize electronic resources to provide qualifying individuals and families with access to generic and brand name medications.

In 2013, the program saved 966 people throughout the Coastal Bend more than $2.2 million in prescription medication costs.

To date the program has served residents in the following counties: Brooks, Calhoun, Dewitt, Duval, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Nueces, Karnes, Kleberg, Lavaca, Matagorda, San Patricio and Victoria.

The Medication Assistance Program is committed to providing resources to the uninsured and under-insured residents of the 19-county service area of the Coastal Bend in order to improve their overall health.
