About Medication Assistance
Welcome to the Medication Assistance Program of the Texas A&M Health Science Center Coastal Bend Health Education Center. Our purpose is to provide assistance to residents who do not have health insurance and limited or no prescription coverage with receiving prescriptions at little or no cost.
Access to prescription medication has become an important concern as drug costs continue to increase and represent a significant out of pocket expense for many uninsured residents. The Medication Assistance Program assists clients with filling out drug company applications that offer a limited supply of free or low-cost medications through their assistance programs. We utilize electronic resources to provide qualifying individuals and families with access to generic and brand name medications.
In 2013, the program saved 966 people throughout the Coastal Bend more than $2.2 million in prescription medication costs.
To date the program has served residents in the following counties: Brooks, Calhoun, Dewitt, Duval, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Nueces, Karnes, Kleberg, Lavaca, Matagorda, San Patricio and Victoria.
