Texas A&M Health Science Center

Continuing Education

The Coastal Bend Health Education Center's Continuing Education (CE) department first achieved accreditation by the Texas Medical Association in September 2001. Since that time, the program has successfully reached thousands of physicians and allied health professionals within its 19-county service area, the Rio Grande Valley and beyond.

In January of 2011, the program received approval by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) to serve as an ACPE-accredited provider of continuing pharmacy education. With this designation, the department conducts continuing pharmacy education activities designed to support the continued professional development of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to help them maintain and enhance their expertise.

The mission of the Continuing Education (CE) program is to plan, develop and present continuing education activities based on identified needs, in the most appropriate format, for physicians, pharmacists, and other health care professionals. Through these education activities, the CE program strives to enhance knowledge, skills, practice performance and attitudes of health care professionals, leading to better patient outcomes.

Our continuing education program offers a broad spectrum of educational opportunities to all physicians, pharmacists and other health care professionals to expand and improve medical practice skills, licensure regulations, hospital privileges, insurance requirements and professional organization memberships.
